Its story

“A wolf in sheep’s clothing”

I'd owned an early 3-litre manual S-Type in British Racing Green years before, and I'd always regretted selling it. Holidaying in Newquay for Tracy's 30th birthday, I was looking to replace my Mercedes CLC with a three litre Jaguar S-Type again. I had my head and heart set on a facelift S-Type in black with the XS body kit and Mercury wheels. My boss, the MD of the car dealer I previously worked for in Lincolnshire, had this exact combination. I remember the first time I saw it roll onto the car park with a real grace and presence. That's when I caught the Jaguar bug. On the way home to Staffordshire we took a detour: 250 miles in the wrong direction, to a dealer in Surrey, to see a low mileage 3.0 XS S-Type in black I'd seen on Autotrader. But I couldn't help noticing the 4.2 Supercharged V8 'R' he had tucked away in another unit. As clear as day I remember the dealer saying, with a smile on his face: "Take the three litre for a spin, then take the 'R' for a drive, but wait until you've passed the first corner before you put your foot down." I knew I was in for a treat. I don't remember much about the drive in the three litre, other than eagerly waiting for the 'R' I'd just fallen in love with. Then I took the 'R' out and heeded his advice. Past the first corner, I planted my foot and had an instant smile on my face. The power was like nothing I'd experienced before, and I was really impressed with the way it handled. A deal was struck. I paid the money and drove him home, with Tracy following in the Merc.

Built for Jaguar enthusiasts, by Jaguar enthusiasts

Made by David and Tracy, Jaguar owners themselves.

“I built Oncat because our Jaguars deserve a proper home for their stories.”

David Burgess A Jaguar owner, and founder

Anyone who’s owned a classic knows the drill: a folder of MOT certificates, a shoebox of invoices, photos scattered across three phones and a dead laptop. When the Jaguar changes hands, most of it is gone.

Oncat is where it lives instead, and keeps on living.
