I bought Roary in Surrey back in 2013. I'd owned an early 3-litre manual S-Type in British Racing Green years before, and I'd always regretted selling it. When the chance came to own another, I couldn't resist. I've had this car for a long time now, and with the help of my Dad and good friend Andy, the car is still on the road today.
David B. · owner since 2013
Registered in Germany originally. Five previous owners before me.
I don't drive it anywhere near as often as I'd like, but we do manage to take him out occasionally.

First time the wheels were refurbed at JP Alloys in Staffordshire

Valley pipe renewal
Replacing the valley pipe and renewing supercharger oil
Starting the recommission on my STR
Cars like to be driven After sitting unused on my dad's drive for a couple of years, it was time to get this thing back on the road. A quick look underneath told me there was plenty of work ahead.
A quick blast underneath before the work begins
A quick blast with the pressure washer and some strong degreaser (Bilthamber Surfex HD) underneath the S-Type R.
Wheels off for Refurb
Took the Zeus wheels off the Jaguar S-Type R and sent them to Planet Alloys in Cannock for refurbishment today.
Focusing on the back end
Rear brakes and struts removed, parts bathing in Bilthamber DEOX
Tidying up the discs
Theres only a handful of miles on these genuine discs so it seems a shame to replace them. A bit of TLC and I think they’ve scrubbed up nicely.
Reviving the rear shock absorbers
Stripped, de rusted, painted and put back together for a new lease of life on the S-Type R. I ended up replacing the busheses on these while we were at it.
Backend coming together
Lots more rust removal, painting and undersealing today. I've fitted new vertical links, and at last the car is starting to look like it might actually come together.
Rear bumper and subframe mounts
Rear bumper, crash bar and subframe mounts removed and ready for sandblasting and rust treatment
Reassembling the rear end on the STR
The sandblasted parts have come back and we've given them a fresh coat of paint before refitting them to the car. We also painted and polished the exhaust pipes and fitted a set of new rubber hangers—...
STR back on the ground and ready to start work on the front end
We had a good day in the garage today, we got the wheels & brakes back on and the car turned around on the ramp, ready to start work on the front end.
Getting started on the front end
Wheels off, brakes off, front struts removed
Repairing the rusty door sill
A big job repairing the rusty door sills on my 2003 Jaguar S-Type. Fortunately the driver side was fine, but the passenger side had taken a real battering. Without my good friend Andy's help, I think...
New aircon, condensor, compressor, lower charge port pipe
Throttle body elbow vacuum leak
A pig of a job, but it needed doing
