An expensive hair cut
After setting out for a quick trim before heading over to Lincoln to spend the weekend with family, the weather suddenly changed.
What had been a wet but sunny day at home turned into a winter wonderland as we made our way towards a hairdresser’s in a remote Staffordshire village. It was on the descent into the village that George lost traction and veered off the road into a set of gates before coming to rest in the corner of a house.
We were in good company, though, as we weren’t the first car to arrive that day. Another had already found its way there, and its occupants were exchanging insurance details and waiting for recovery.
We then made our entrance, with George opening the gates rather dramatically with his nose.
The family who owned the house were lovely about it all, and after much apologising and exchanging details, we got George recovered to our local independent Jaguar specialist. A friend came to our rescue in his Land Rover Discovery.
Sadly, that turned out to be George’s last trip with us. The insurance assessor wrote him off. But I bought him back and sold him to the Jaguar specialist, and he’s still going strong today.
